Electric Tankless Water Heater

Why Electric Tankless Water Heaters Are All The Rage Now

Believe it or not, hot water heaters are a fairly recent invention for our civilization, having only been around for less than 150 years in total. However, there is probably not any other invention that people would not ever want to live without these days. Without a hot water heater, people had to heat water on the stove, or fire, and then carry it to the tub to mix with some cold water to get the temperature just right. Now, all one has to do is turn on the faucet and out comes fresh, hot, water. The problem arises when you consider the cost of heating all that water and storing it in a big tank for later use, having an instant on heater, would be much more economical that’s why so many people are switching to electric tankless water heaters.

Tankless Heaters Have Many Advantages

The most obvious, of course, is that they don’t have a large tank of water that stays heated 24 hours per day eating up your energy and costing you plenty of money. And since there isn’t a huge tank, they take up way less space than a standard heater. Many times they can be installed right under the sink in the bathroom or kitchen near where the water is going to be used.

Plus, by not having all of those hot water pipes running all over your home, you’re not losing more energy from those pipes either. Between the tank and the pipes, up to 20% of the energy to heat your hot water is lost every singe day, depending on your home’s construction and the distances involved. With an electric tankless water heater, the hot water is created just before you use it on demand, never stored, and very near where it’s going to be used. There is almost no wasted energy at all.

How Tankless Water Heaters Work

The tankless heater sits idle 95% of the time since you don’t really use hot water that much every day, but when you need it, it’s a necessity. Once you turn on the hot water, a small flow sensor is activated and it turns on the heating elements. The cold water enters the heat exchanger which heats up the water instantly to the desired temperature, then leaves out the exit pipes and onward to your faucet.

The absolute second that you turn off your faucet, the flow sensor shuts off the current to the heating elements and stops heating water immediately. There is only a tiny amount of wasted hot water left in the pipes that will eventually cool down. That’s why the electric tankless water heaters are so efficient, save so much money, and are becoming more popular every single day.

Each Tankless Heater Has An Adjustable Temperature

There will be a knob that allows the homeowner to turn the temperature up or down so that the water coming out of the faucet is neither too hot or too cold. You’ll never want the water that is purely from just the hot water side of your faucet to be so hot that it can scald people, especially children and the elderly.

The best thing about a tankless heater is that, no matter how long you use it, it never runs out of hot water. So, if you have a large family that needs to take showers all in a row in the morning, they’re all going to get as much hot water as they need. It will never turn cool, lukewarm, or cold, it will always be just exactly the same as it exits your tankless heater. Once you own one and get the hang of its benefits, you’ll wonder why you didn’t buy one years ago.
